Vinyasa means ‘breath-synchronized movement’. Vinyasa or Vinyasa Flow is a descriptive term that covers a wide range of yoga classes whereby breathing (inhaling or exhaling) is used to move from one pose to the next. In that sense Vinyasa sequencing is also used in Yoga classes such as Ashtanga. Vinyasa includes a variety of postures sequencing but no strict series of Asanas as found in Ashtanga Yoga.
Vinyasa Yoga is very popular in Western countries for its fast-paced workout or fitness approach.
Vinyasa Yoga Zurich
Origin: Unlike other Yoga styles, Vinyasa yoga is not a tradition of Yoga in itself but an element of it. The flow of movements is not only physically challenging but it also results in detoxification, mental and physical balance and stamina.
Classes: As for Hatha Yoga, a Vinyasa class will largely depend on the teacher who is teaching it. Although each class may include a different sequencing of poses, it will surely involve sweating and deep breathing resulting from the flow of movements as well as some fun.
